About me
Michelle was born in Harrogate in 1970 and whilst her family moved around a lot in her younger years, they settled in Stamford in 1981. Michelle attended Stamford High School and later went to Exeter University.
Initially, Michelle pursued a career in retail and then in general sales management and has lived in London, Yorkshire and Scotland. Just before the Millenium, there was an opportunity to return to Stamford and shortly afterwards, Michelle began a new career in teaching. Last year, she retired from teaching (and Stamford Endowed Schools) where she had taught for 17 years, as a class teacher and specialist art teacher.
Michelle has always kept up her interests in art but on moving back to Stamford, the beautiful colour of the local stone and wealth of architectural history inspired her to focus on producing local scenes in pen and ink and then watercolour. The pen and ink enables her to capture more of the detail of the buildings whilst the watercolour creates life and atmosphere.
Now retired from teaching, Michelle and her partner, Alan, have increased their time spent travelling. Recent trips to Italy and France have provided much new inspiration.
